New tracks by Psytox released!

I'm pretty proud to say that my new EP is out. Well, sort of. It's available exclusively from Beatport for the next two weeks, after that you'll be able to find it on WhatPeoplePlay and Junodownload (and a bunch of other stores as well).

It was mastered by Tom Hades and the remix is done by Soren Aalberg. Also good to know: there will be a remix pack in a few months with versions by Kretipleti (Thomas from Donk Boys), Andre Lanine (Silenced) and one of my techno heroes: Jeroen Search!

Hope you like it... find it here and don't be shy to give some feedback.

Some info:
Nerve Theater might not (yet) ring a bell, but when we say Franco Cangelli things should get a lot clearer. This is his more minimal project, while he also shows his other sides on his own imprints Mowar and Aesthetik. He provided us with two tracks, bit vaguely referring to some old dbx and days when minimal wasn't the watered down house we know today.
The first remix is by Cesare vs Disorder, who really took a major leap forward in 2009 with releases on esteemed labels like Dumb Unit, Resopal Schallware and Archipel, and prolific dj sets worldwide including the famous Fabric.
Second one takes it to a more bass driven level, as Donk Boys (Frankie Records, Dirtybird, Siteholder) apply their signature no nonsense approach to the title track. Expect brutal bass kicks that aim merciless at your feet and ear drums.

On presale already on astralmusic.com

A bit of feedback:

Matt o'brien (Off-Key, Rekidz, Platzhirsch)
I'm really feeling this release. Loving the stripped back simplicity of
lost braincells. The Cesare vs Disorder in da house remix is heavy too.
Really good stuff man.

Autodeep (Galaktika Rec. / Love Hertz)
Really nice twisted stuff on coincidence's second vinyl offering! Our will be the Cesare vs. Disorder Mix - full support!

Katharina (Love Hertz)

Modus Operandi 12

As you might or might not know I have a series of mixes going on. Part twelve already... I have put it on my account on Vi.be which is also my opportunity to shamelessly plug that site here. Vi.be is a project by Poppunt that tries to give chances to known an unknown talent. Make your profile and be part of something bigger. Or just have fun doing it, all is good :)

Evad Streaklov.

Not only has this popo inspired me to make my favorite track o'mine, but he also is a pretty good dj (since he's turned to playing vinyl we can finally categorise him as dj).

His site is pretty basic but the dude sure has some amazing mixes available. Check it out :) And also keep an eye on the Melodé concept: it's not a french project by Sylvie Melody, but a pretty wicked concept he is setting up with some friends. A bar. Music. Brussels. That's it, and that's enough to be more interesting then most self-proclaimed "innovators".

The Melodé blog can be found here.

Retirement plans

After serious consideration I decided this weekend to quit dj'ing. As of august 2010, I will no longer play dj sets outside my own house. The reason? Because I've been struggling the past year to find places where I could feel good about the music I want to play. Because I don't want to keep on playing until people tell me it's become a bit pathetic. Because I don't feel like coming out of bed at 5AM to play for a few people who aren't interested in music the way I am. Because I simply think nightlife has changed so much that I don't feel in place anymore.

So, my set at the Tomorrowland festival this summer will be the last one. And before the comedians amongst you start: yes, I've said this before, but this time it's for real. I will continue to make music myself and my work with Coincidence Records will of course keep on taking up my time (and money). But the releases will come under another name than Psytox. Because I want to keep it simple, I will just use my own name, which makes it a bit sad that I don't have a wicked german or polish name. But I'll manage ;)

I just want to thanks all people, espacially my wife and family, for all the support they gave me over the years. It's been a blast.

Free track available from my soundcloud

I am busy making a couple of new tracks, which should be released somewhere in March 2010. It will also feature a pretty sweet remix by Soren Aalberg (Girafe Sauvage) and possibly also a remix by Tom Hades. But why I'm writing this is: one of the tracks wasn't fitting in with the other tunes, but rather then throwing it out I decided to post in on my soundcloud for free. It's called Margie Killed Bob Sels (I'm a big fan of Matroesjka's, the belgian tv show, hence the title).

So you can download it there, play it, dance to it, listen to it, do whatever you want to do with it :)
